The Club at Golden Valley Racquet Sports 

Members have access to Har-Tru clay courts, a hard surface court and pickleball courts available for members and their guests enjoyment. 

The facility features separate locker rooms for men and women, as well as a cantina offering fresh and healthy dining options. Adjacent to the tennis complex is a beautiful outdoor swimming pool, providing the perfect setting to unwind with a swim after a game of tennis or pickleball.

Lessons and drills are available for players of all ages and skill levels.

Meet Mike Laurel, our Director of Sports & Member Engagement

Mike brings more than 30 years of experience in private clubs and racquet sports, including 22 years at The Minikahda Club, where his role evolved from Tennis Professional to Member Engagement Director. In that leadership capacity, he enhanced club-wide programming, developed week-long camps, and activated the winter season through creative initiatives such as curling, cross-country skiing and walking trails, and ice skating. He also helped establish valued club traditions, including the annual Medallion Hunt, The Golden Ticket Event, and Sunday Family Fun Nights. Mike has a proven track record of increasing member satisfaction through innovative programming, contagious enthusiasm, and, most importantly, meaningful relationship building.

Mike is an RSPA Elite Certified Tennis, Elite Certified Platform and Professional Certified Pickleball Teaching Professional. He served as the Primary Tennis and Platform Tennis Instructor and Jr. Tennis/Platform Coordinator at Minikahda. In addition, he taught lessons and led Women’s Daytime League teams at Northwest Athletic Clubs and Lifetime Fitness for over two decades, earning “Critiquer of the Year” and “Professional of the Year” honors. He began his teaching career at Edina Country Club.

Mike lives in River Falls, Wisconsin, with his wife, Carolyn, and their daughters, Isabel (a junior at Boston Conservatory) and Greta (a sophomore at Macalester College). Outside of work, he enjoys downhill skiing, kayaking, walking their two corgis (Julie and Seven), spending time with family, and caring for animals on their family farm.
